Design Co- Ordinator

Quarto creates inspiring books for adults and children published across the globe. As Design Co-ordinator, you will play an important role in the UK Adult trade publishing team liaising between editorial, design and production to make sure that new titles, reprints and reissues are sent to print on time and archived correctly.

Working hours

35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. We currently operate a discretionary hybrid model, with three days in our London office and two working from home.

 

About the role:

As Design Co-ordinator, you will provide essential support to the editorial, design and production teams and help deliver our publishing programme of 100+ books per year.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Managing the archiving process, and ensuring all files are archived correctly using our pre-flight checking system, Greenlight
  • Solving file problems and being the main point of contact for all freelance designers with Greenlight queries
  • Amending files for reprints, foreign rights and custom deals
  • Ensuring the availability of sales materials for launch meetings and book fairs
  • Revising and re-designing shrinkdowns, reissues and buy-ins as necessary
  • Providing administrative support to the Design team, e.g. raising contracts for freelance designers and illustrators and processing invoices

 

About you

The successful applicant will have at least six months’ experience in a role that requires file management, ideally in book or magazine publishing.

You will be able to show you can:

  • Demonstrate excellent InDesign skills
  • Use problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure 
  • Communicate proactively with excellent team-working skills 
  • Follow procedures accurately and pay close attention to detail
  • proritise tasks and manage your time effectively
