English Language Rights Assistant/Executive

 

Are you an enthusiastic book lover who is looking to grow their sales experience in publishing? We are looking to appoint either a Rights Assistant or Executive to join our English Language Co-edition sales team, depending on your level of experience. You would be a key player in supporting sales to our existing customer base, whilst also pursuing new sales initiatives.

Starting from £25,500 (depending on experience and the level appointed at).

Working hours 

35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. We operate a discretionary hybrid model; with three days in our London office and two days working from home. 

 

 

About the role

You will be selling rights on our successful backlist for a selection of our children’s portfolios, while also supporting frontlist sales on our innovative children’s novelty imprint.

 

What you will be involved in:

  • Reach and exceed set revenue and margin targets
  • Negotiate prices, specifications and schedules with customers
  • Maintain customer stock data and chase reprints
  • Work closely with creative departments, foreign sales, publishers and production teams
  • Assist with the preparation of customer meetings, and creating sales tools and presentations.
  • Maintain and update internal systems and processes

 

About you 

You will have experience in a rights or sales department in publishing, and ideally working knowledge of the production process. This role would suit an experienced assistant looking for the next step in their career, or a rights executive with an interest in the English-language co-edition markets.

 

You will be able to show you can:

  • Apply good commercial awareness, with an appetite for sales and a results-focused mentality
  • Show strong presentation and communication skills
  • Demonstrate good organisational skills
  • Be comfortable learning to use new tools and databases
  • Manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively with internal colleagues
  • Provide excellent service to both customers and the team
